Why you should never stop educating yourself!

Education stops right after college… FALSE!

I think it is fair to say that we’ve all heard phrases like “Go to college, get a degree and find a good job” many times in our lives! Because it is a social norm. Society is built this way. If we follow these instructions, then we should stop educating ourselves as soon as we’re done with college. And this is a big mistake!

If you stop educating yourself right after getting out of college, you will inevitably fall into the 9-5 trap of life. If we are the same kind of person, you and me, persons who want something more out of life than just being stuck in the rat race, you need to understand that education is your ticket out of it.

There are two ways to learn things.

  1. Just in case learning: It is to learn things “just in case” you might need the knowledge for this or that.
  2. Just in time learning: It is to learn things as you need the knowledge. Right now.

Both ways to learn are good, but I would recommend implementing the Just in time learning instead of the other one. As time is all we really have, Just in time learning will save you time by focusing on what you need to learn in order to achieve your next goal. Here are some ressources I’ve put together where you can learn on any topics you’d like..

Ressources

Part-time remote college

We are all busy in our everyday life, but we all can find time to learn. Take a part-time remote class or two at a college in your city or abroad. Anyways, this type of course can be done remotely! This is perfect if you struggle to find time to get things done! No need to attend class early in the morning! You can go at your own pace and enjoy the process. Go visit the website of some college in your city to see if they offer a program you are interested in!

Books

Sounds obvious, right? Yep. Books are knowledge and there are millions of them out there, even online! This is something I always do before getting into something new. I read a book on the subject. I usually pick up an e-book on Amazon and consume it. Amazon is the biggest book store on the planet. You will inevitably find at least 1 book about what you are looking to learn! Successful entrepreneurs read at least a book per week while the average American barely reads 1 in a year!

Do you remember the last book you’ve read? How many books do you read per year? Please let me know in the comment section below!

Audiobooks

The busy/slow reader’s best friend! Whether you are driving, working out, working or whatever, you can always listen to an audiobook in your earphones! I recommend using the platform Audible as it is cheap and user-friendly. Check out my article “Top 5 audiobooks you need to change your life!“.

Online courses

Online courses are a great way to learn any skills or subject on the go from anywhere you want. Could be from your computer, phone, tablet, etc. Here are a few platforms I use on a regular basis to educate myself..

Udemy

Udemy is one of my favourite online courses platform. I’ve bought dozens of courses there. You can follow courses on any subject, just type in what you are looking for and search through the results. At the end of each course, you get a certificate.

Future Learn

The second platform I use is Future Learn. It is also an online courses platform, but the difference from Udemy is that the courses are recognized by universities around the world. You also get a certificate from them at the end of each courses if you also complete the assignments.

Coursera

Coursera is a similar platform as Future Learn. They offer online courses recognized by universities around the world.

Skillshare

The name says it all! People share their skills on this platform. There is a huge number of courses and also free courses!

Youtube

I think pretty much everyone on the internet is aware of what Youtube is. It is, to this date, owned by Google and the second biggest search engine on the planet. You can find tutorials for free on anything you want!

Blogs

I’m pretty sure everyone heard the expression “just Google it!”. Indeed, Google has answers to everything! Mostly because of bloggers who answers questions in their articles and share it to the world on their blog! Like this article you are reading right now! There are millions of blogs throughout the web such as the most popular ones: Business Insider, Huffington Post, TMZ, The Verge, Lifehacker, and so on.

Seminars or Webinars

Held in public or on the web, seminars are a great way to learn information offered by a commercial or professional organization. Take interest in them and look over the web to attend to some of them! Can’t hurt!

Conclusion

Education doesn’t stop when you are done with college. Keep on educating yourself and getting out there! This is the only way to keep up and reach your goals if you want more out of life.
